Billing and Collection for:
- Water: We produce approximately 8 million gallons of safe, clean drinking water each year for homes and businesses in the Village of Hatch.
- Wastewater: We clean and treat approximately 60 million gallons of wastewater annually that is discharged into the Rio Grande and used downstream by other communities; and we reclaim 187,000 gallons of wastewater daily that is cleaned and treated for use.
- Other than water applied to landscaping, every drop of water used in Hatch is dependably cleaned and reclaimed or returned to the stream system for additional uses.
- Solid Waste: Southwest Disposal provides reliable residential curbside pickup and commercial solid waste service to residents and businesses throughout Hatch and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to provide safe, economical, environmentally sound, and aesthetic solid waste management.
- Administrative Services: We provide financial, budgetary, rate and regulation oversight, meter reading, field services, warehousing, dispatch, and new installations to residents and businesses.
- Cemetery: We provide Cemetery lots for sale, open and closure of lots and basic upkeep of cemetery.

Education

The Village of Hatch has four public educational buildings within the town limits:
- Hatch Elementary School (Head start, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten through 2nd grade) with Principal Amy Marquez
- Rio Grande Elementary (grades 3rd through 5th) with Dee Collins
- Hatch Valley Middle School (grades 6th through 8th) with Amber Perry
- Hatch Valley High School (grades 9th through 12th) with Brandy Holguin

Also part of the Hatch Valley Public Schools is Garfield Elementary School, with Principal Louis Meza, located in Garfield, New Mexico about 10 miles north of Hatch. Garfield Elementary provides education for grades Kindergarten through 5th. The principal is Rey Gonzalez and their mascot is the Gophers.

Fire Department
In Case of Fire Emergency DIAL 9-1-1
The Village of Hatch Volunteer Fire Department is consisted of volunteers from the Village of Hatch and surrounding areas. Currently the Hatch Fire Department has fifteen volunteers who have dual membership in Rincon – Dona Ana County Fire Station #6 and Hatch Fire Department. All Hatch Firefighters are either IFSAC or AHJ Firefighter I certified and many have additional Fire Department IFSAC certifications.
The Hatch Fire Department is made up of the following Officers:

Motor Vehicle Department

The Village of Hatch has a fully operational Motor Vehicle Department. We are located at 133 N. Franklin adjoining the Village of Hatch Administration Building. The Village of Hatch Motor Vehicles Department processes Type I & II VIN Inspections. Type I & II level inspections are $10.00 each, no appointment needed. We process out of state and in state title transfers, dealer title services, driver’s license renewals (both in state and out of state), driver’s permits and provisional licenses, interlock driver’s licenses, & CDL licenses. The Village of Hatch applies a $5.00 municipality fee for each motor vehicle transaction. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
- The Motor Vehicle Department has computer testing available for new drivers and CDL drivers. Computer tests are $5.00 each and are conducted Monday – Friday from 8am – 11am & 1pm – 3pm, testing is done on a first come first served basis.
- Road driving tests for CDL are not available at our Motor Vehicle Department, however road driving tests for regular driver’s licenses are. Driving tests are conducted Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm; please call the office for availability. The cost is $20.00 per test. Credit and/or debit cards are not accepted for these services.

The Village of Hatch Police Department helps to maintain the safety of Village residents through grants such as Stonegarden and ODWI. Stonegarden is a Department of Homeland Security based grant. The Village of Hatch Police Department works diligently and closely with the United States Border Patrol to deter trafficking such as illegal drugs and human trafficking. ODWI provides Officers the ability to keep impaired drivers off the roads and have the tools necessary to maintain the grant such as the IR8000 and Portable RBT.

The Village of Hatch Public Works department is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all water wells, water lines and tanks, airport grounds, cemetery plots, village buildings, streets and signs, as well as hanging banners for events, Christmas and the Chile Festival.
Mike Castillo is the Public Works Director and has been with the Village of Hatch for 18 years. He is responsible for daily checks for signs of water breaks, Village of Hatch vehicles, and the wastewater lift station. Mike also makes sure all streets are clean and street signs are intact. He is a certified swimming pool operator (maintaining chemical levels at the Judd Nordyke Municipal Pool), street sweeper operator, heavy equipment operator, and performs some electrical work. He is currently in the process of exchanging the bulbs on the street lights on Franklin St. and Hall St. to LED bulbs, which will create a brighter and more energy efficient community.
Chris Romero (12 yrs+), Sammy Castillo (10 yrs+), Victor Chairez, and Francisco Lucero are Public Works employees. They are heavy equipment operators and street sweeper operators. These are the guys that do everything from raising the American Flag at all Village of Hatch public buildings every morning and taking it down every evening to digging underground to find a break in our water lines.

In 1996, The Village of Hatch received a brand new wastewater treatment facility. In 2011-2012 it received two new, larger capacity drying beds, six older drying beds were retrofitted, and a new UV disinfection system was installed.
Juan Duran is the Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician for the Village of Hatch and has been for over 23 years. Juan is level IV wastewater certified and level III water certified. Juan’s qualifications authorize him to run the lab for wastewater testing. Juan is an asset for the Village of Hatch. He is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all wastewater emergencies.
